Simulation in Logistics refers to the simulation of the transport and storage of materials during the whole or part of the life cycle of a product; from supplier, to factory, to warehouse, to distribution centre, to customer. In a simulation model:

  • Deliveries can be scheduled, storage locations can be sized and expiry/usage rates can be defined by SKU
  • Transport lead times can be defined by location and SKU type
  • Transport capacities can be defined
  • Automated systems (e.g. AMHS, AGV’s Racking etc.) and their process times can be modelled
  • There are no data limitations
  • In fact, anything that can be described can be modelled
